Coelophysis
An important discovery was made in 1947 by Edwin Colbert, at Ghost Ranch in New Mexico, of over a dozen complete skeletons of Coelophysis, a Triassic dinosaur about which little was known. Cope had found the creature back in 1889.
It was bipedal with long legs and was a swift runner. Interestingly dinosaurs were becoming pigeon-holed as either swift runners such as Coelophysis and Velociraptor, and to some extent Iguanodon, or as slow plodders such as Apatosaurus, Stegosaurus, Diplodocus et al.
